Meet The Team
Heather Wyatt has been with Edelweiss Private Academy for the past 8 years, fulfilling the roles of teacher and principal. She has just completed 41 years in the field of education, teaching in Calgary and Ottawa. During her time with the Ottawa District School Board, she was a lead writer of the Ministry of Education Kindergarten Program, a district Math Trainer and Board Literacy Coach. She has her Primary and Junior Certification with specialist certificates in Primary Education and Special Education. She also holds additional qualifications in Vocal Music, English as a Second Language and Remedial Reading. During her career, Heather has experience teaching grades JK to Grade 6, in a variety of subjects, including Special Education, Core French, Vocal Music and English as a Second Language. She has extensive experience working with children with various learning, behavioural and social-emotional needs. Heather also volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors for Thinking in Pictures Educational Services, as Secretary to the Board. She is thrilled to be working at Edelweiss Private Academy, working with a wonderful team of educators and amazing students!
Maja Maricic has been an intermediate teacher at Edelweiss Private Academy for 3 years. She has 15 years of teaching experience working with exceptional students. Maja has gained the ABA training during her employment with TIPES, Edelweiss Private Academy's (EPA's) sister company. She has a Junior and Intermediate Certification, Fine Art Degree and General Art Degree in Psychology. In addition, she has Intermediate English, Honours in Visual Arts, and Special Education 1 additional qualifications. Maja's dedication and versatility serve as a great asset to teaching her special needs students at EPA.
Tryna Eckel has been working in the education field for over ten years. She has had the opportunity to teach in both private and public schools, in Ontario and overseas. Tryna completed her undergraduate degree in political science and religions & cultures. She has her primary/junior designation with additional classes in English as a Second Language and teaching students with exceptionalities. She also has part 1 additional qualifications in Special Education and Kindergarten. Tryna is a primary teacher at heart and has taught grade 2 for the last two years. 2021-2022 will be her first year at Edelweiss Private Academy. She is excited to begin her teaching journey as the primary teacher at EPA.
